The following holiday schedule has been approved by the Hendry County Board of County Commissioners.  These hours apply to the Property Appraisers office and may not reflect specific offices, facilities, or services for all Hendry County offices.  Please check with the specific office for your particular needs.

Martin Luther King, Jrs. Birthday Monday, January 21st
Floating Holiday Friday, March 21st
Memorial Day (observed) Monday, May 26th

TAX ROLL CALENDAR

 

The Property Appraiser’s office operates on a calendar established by Florida Statue known as the “Tax Roll Calendar”.

 

January 1:

Appraisal date. All property in Florida is revalued each year as of January 1.

 

March 1 (or next business day, if on a weekend or legal holiday):

Deadline for timely filing

·         Agricultural Classification

·         Homestead Exemption

·         Widow/Widower Exemption ONLY in conjunction with Homestead Exemption

·         Disability Exemption ONLY in conjunction with Homestead Exemption

·         Veterans, Service Connected Total & Permanent Disability Exemption ONLY in conjunction with Homestead Exemption

·         Exemption for Total & Permanent Disability ONLY in conjunction with Homestead Exemption

·         Blind Persons Exemption

·         Senior Citizen Homestead Exemption

·         Non-Profit/ Institutional Exemption

April 1 (or next business day, if on a weekend or legal holiday):

This is the deadline for filing Tangible Personal Property returns.

June 1 (or next business day, if on a weekend or legal holiday):

 This is the deadline to submit the required documentation for the additional Senior Citizen Exemption.  This is also the date the Property Appraisers office provides various taxing authorities with the estimated taxable values so budgets can be established.

 

July 1

On or before this date notices (timely filed) of denied exemptions and agricultural classifications are mailed.  The preliminary tax roll is submitted by the Property Appraisers office.

 

August 24:

On or before this date the Property Appraiser, on behalf of all taxing authorities mails “Notices of Proposed Taxes” (also called a “TRIM Notice”) to all property owners.  This notice also includes market and the assessed value of the owner’s property for the current and prior year.

 

 DEADLINE FOR FILING A PETITION WILL BE STATED ON THE “TRIM NOTICE”.  Petitions MUST be filed within twenty-five (25) days after the mailing.  Before you file a petition the Property Appraisers office may be able to resolve any issues you may have. Please call our office at 863-675-5270.

November 1:

On or before this date the Tax Collector will mail the tax bills to property owners of record.
